I get questions all the time about what ages certain little-boy outfits are “appropriate” for. My answer is simple: if it makes you smile, let him wear it. They are only little once, and before you know it, athletic wear will take over most of their days. So soak up those sweet baby-boy moments for as long as you can.

MOST COMMON AGES NEWBORN - 2T
Nothing is sweeter than a little guy in a bubble — it shows off those delicious little legs (and yummy baby rolls!). In the summer, they’re perfect with bare feet or a sweet little sandal. As the weather cools, just add socks and a cardigan for the sweetest fall look.

As classic as it gets for a little boy. In spring and summer, john johns are darling worn on their own with sandals or bare feet. As the weather cools, layer one over a pima or woven Peter Pan shirt for that sweet, traditional little-boy look. Add knee socks in the fall for an extra polished touch.

A button-on is a classic little-boy look, especially for portraits, christenings, Easter, weddings and other special occasions. It’s a two-piece set where the shirt actually buttons into the shorts, which keeps everything neatly tucked in and beautifully put together. For a more relaxed occasion, sandals, loafers or even bare feet can be darling; for a dressier event, add an ankle or knee sock with a saddle shoe.

Once we hit the potty-training years, it’s usually time for elastic-waist bottoms paired with a cute top. Many dressier styles include adjustable waistbands, and two-piece sets are especially helpful for taller kiddos who begin to outgrow one-piece styles.
